Accessibility Statement

EMKE GmbH is continuously committed to making its websites www.emke.de, www.emked.fr and www.emkedirect.co.uk as accessible as possible.
The legal basis for this commitment is the German Accessibility Strengthening Act (Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz – BFSG), in conjunction with the Accessible Information Technology Ordinance (BITV 2.0), as well as Directive (EU) 2016/2102.
This accessibility statement applies to the content published on www.emke.de, www.emked.fr and www.emkedirect.co.uk insofar as such content falls within the scope of the BFSG.

Compliance with Legal Requirements

Our goal is to provide a fully inclusive online presence that offers every user, regardless of individual abilities, an accessible and equal user experience.
The continuous improvement of the accessibility of our digital services is an ongoing commitment. We are dedicated to enhancing our website and gradually removing any barriers that may restrict access, ensuring unrestricted use of our content for all users.
At present, the website is already compliant in many respects with the requirements of BITV 2.0 in conjunction with Directive (EU) 2016/2102.

Measures to Improve Accessibility

Below is an overview of the measures that have already been implemented and those currently in progress to achieve comprehensive accessibility on our website (the list is illustrative and not exhaustive).

  1. Keyboard Navigation
The core functions of the website and the selection of product categories can be accessed using the Tab key and operated entirely via keyboard.
  2. Content (Images, Videos, Text)
To make product features and characteristics easier to understand, we provide relevant images, descriptive texts, and meaningful pictograms.
Videos containing audio information can be provided with subtitles upon request.
  3. Structured Content with Headings
Pages are, to the greatest extent possible, structured logically and consistently.
Product categories are represented using clear and easy-to-understand pictograms and symbols.
This structure is reviewed and updated on an ongoing basis.
  4. Sufficient Contrast
We aim to design all website elements with adequate contrast.
Some elements may not yet offer optimal contrast, which can also depend on the display device used.
We are continuously working to improve the visual presentation.
  5. Highlighting of Links
Links to additional information and PDF downloads are already underlined and visually distinguished by colour.
Other links are being progressively adjusted to improve their visibility.
  6. Zoom and Responsive Design
The website uses a responsive design and supports scalable display across different screen sizes.
  7. Adjustable Font Size and Type
Users can adjust font size using their browser settings.

Content That Is Not Yet Fully Accessible

PDF and Word Documents: Some of the numerous PDF and Word documents available on our website may not yet be fully accessible.
Retrofitting all existing documents would involve a disproportionate effort.
New documents are created in accordance with current accessibility standards wherever possible.
